Sensation Peace Lily

Even when they’re not in bloom, peace lilies look incredibly graceful and stylish with their broad leaves, which are a wonderful dark green. They will produce gorgeous white flowers that will fill your room with a light fragrance. As you may have expected they are a symbol of peace, since their white flowers mimic the international truce signal of a white flag. They originated in the tropical rainforests of Venezuela and Columbia and made their way to Europe in the 1870’s, where they proved they are well adapted as indoor house plants. They are great communicators and will let you know if they are unhappy by drooping their leaves if their soil becomes too dry. Keep your peace lily on a weekly watering schedule, or when the top 3 cm of soil dries. They can tolerate light conditions that range between full sun to partial shade, preferring medium to bright light.
